Resetting for the new year is always fun for me because I like to think of the new year as a clean slate. In this post I’m going to list 20 ways you can reset for the new year to help make it the best one yet.
20 Ways to reset and bring in the new year strong
1. Life check in & reflection
Take some time to reflect on this past year. What went well this year? What didn’t go well this year what would you like to see in the new year?
2. Deep clean your house
Growing up in my family at the end of the new year you always made sure to clean your house and your space so you could start the new year fresh and not bring any of the clutter and craziness into the new year. Take some time to deep clean your space.
3. Deep clean and wash your car
Same thing goes for your car. A lot of times you spend more time here than you do in your room so it’s important to make sure you take the time to clean out all of the debris and food and papers so when you’re in your car it continues to be your oasis while you’re on the road.
4. Do a digital detox
Take some time to clean up your digital devices as well. This includes cleaning off your desktop background, clearing out old photos and messages and files off of your phone, and clearing out people you no longer want to follow on muting them on your social media channels so you can start the new year fresh and focused.
5. Clean out your closet
Take some time to clean out anything you’re not wearing, doesn’t fit, or no longer love from your closet. You don’t want to bring unnecessary items and clothes into the new year that no longer serve you.

6. Set goals and intentions
Take some time to think about what it is that you want in the new year. What do you want to accomplish? What don’t you want to bring from this year into the new year? write down some things that you want to do and that inspire you for the new year.
7. Pick your word or theme for the year
Setting intentions for the new year help you focus on your goals after you have determined what those will be. Picking a word for the new year is a fun way of adding an extra layer to your goalsetting that resonates with you.
8. Make a vision board
Take some time to find some photos words “affirmations, or anything that inspires you to go after your goals in the new year. Having a visual representation of your goals as inspiration that you can look at on a daily basis is very important and has been shown to help you reach your goals and dreams. Whether you choose to make a digital version or a printed version, a vision board is a great way to help keep you on track to achieving your goals. Check out my post on vision boarding here.
9. Reevaluate your routines
Take some time to think through your daily habits and routines. Evaluate what worked and what didn’t and make changes if necessary to how you want your days to go in the new year.
10. Do a spending audit & budget update
Spend some time with your money and take some time to reevaluate your budget. The end of the year is a great time to reevaluate how you want to take care of your financial health.

11. Plan your time off for the new year
Take some time at the end of the year to go through and plan out all of the time you want to takeoff in the new year. Having this planned out, allows you to have insight into when you will have downtime and makes you prioritize taking a break.
12. Revamp your workout routine
Plan out you workouts and eating habits that put you in a great headspace. Also don’t be afraid to start before January 1st on your health journey.
13. Reorganize your space
Move furniture around. Refurbish and restore some pieces to give them a new life. Pick out a new rug. Whatever excites you, get you interior designer juices flowing.
14. Make a bucket list for the year
Make a list of all the exciting things that you want to do for the next year and maybe even beyond.
15. Get a new planner
You need something to map out your master plans for world domination. Pick out a new planner, order your planner inserts or download your digit#l planner and hit the ground running.

16. Schedule your appointments for the year
I’d you can and haven’t already, go ahead and schedule all of your annual appointments for the year so you have one less thing to think about and you stay on top of your health and wellness.
17. Plan and schedule a life admin day
Plan a day where you knock out all of the nagging tasks that need to get done in your life like: scheduling your annual appointments, cleaning out fridge, cleaning out your car, etc.
18. Change your tech backgrounds
Change your wallpaper to a new photo you love or add your vision board to your background for added inspiration.
19. Have a self care night and pamper yourself
Do a face mask. Take a long bath. Read a good book. Make yourself your favorite meal or order your favorite takeout. Whatever feels like self care for you, do that and plan days in the coming months to do so as well.
20. Get creative
Draw. Write. Start a blog. Make something. Get inspired and get creative.
Bonus: Give yourself grace
It’s okay if you don’t get everything done before the new year. Give yourself grace and know that you are starting off the new year the best you can in the capacity that you can. You got this!
