What to do when you feel like you have nothing to wear

Our wardrobes play a large role in our everyday. Generally speaking, you aren’t going to leave the house without clothes on so picking out things to wear every day is a necessary part of our everyday lives. It can often get easy to get bored with our wardrobes especially if you haven’t refreshed your wardrobe in a while. In this post, I want to discuss ways to not become bored with our wardrobe and clothing.
How to not get bored with your wardrobe
1. Accessorize

This is my favorite way to change up a look. Throwing on a beautiful pair of earrings or an edgy necklace or popping on a blanket scarf or the perfect handbag are all ways that you can take a basic outfit and elevate it. Accessories a lot of the time end up making the outfit because they are often the easiest ways to make a statement with your style. For me, it has always been jewelry that I use to bump up my outfit, but don’t get me wrong, I live for a statement scarf or a statement shoe that pumps up my outfit a notch.
2. Layer

Whether it is a coat, blazer, or cardigan, I love to layer every day. I am a fan of the 3 piece wardrobe and usually never leave the house without a layer on top of the base of my outfits. Whether it’s a dress with a blazer and tights or a t-shirt and jeans with an oversized cardigan or my motorcycle jacket. I love throwing on a third piece always. This is an easy way to bump your outfit and a lot of the time you can add some cool personality here too.
3. Always look for and use your inspiration

Keeping yourself inspired by fashion will help you to see your clothes in a new light. Sometimes I find when I see a new way to wear a piece I already have and love I am inspired and find new outfits to wear as a result. I am constantly pinning on Pinterest for new ways to wear the things that I love
- Search for keywords/hashtags that reflect the vibe you’re going for or what your personal aesthetic or style is
- Tik tok
- Pay attention to the vibe or style and how things are put together to get inspired and don’t get caught up in the idea of copying the outfits exactly
- Play dress up and play around with your clothes and get inspired
Another way that I sometimes find inspiration is by simply going into my closet, putting outfits together, and trying them on. This often gives me inspiration because I am able to see the clothes on my body and play with how shirts are tucked or what belts I want to wear or the proportions of the pieces together. This is a great way to walk away with a few new outfit ideas
4. Shop Your Closet

This kind of piggybacks off of number 4 but when I am looking for something new to wear I usually go to my closet and pick a piece of clothing to style and see what outfits I can make with that piece. I also take the time to access what is missing from my wardrobe and how I can wear the things I already have in a different way.
5. Find a new accessory or DIY/revamp an existing piece in our wardrobe

Maybe it’s my fashion background but I love a good DIY moment to refresh my wardrobe. Whether it’s taking some paint to an old jean jacket or cropping that ole sweater or adjusting the hem on a skirt or dress. Sometimes, something as simple as a DIY can give you an entirely new piece to wear and help keep you excited about your wardrobe.
There are ways to get reinspired by your wardrobe without always having to go shopping for new things all the time. However, sometimes it’s okay to hunt for pieces that your closet is missing to enhance what you already have and love.
